The Apple’s iPhone X launched last year came with lots of new features. These new features of iPhone X running on iOS 12 includes; a feature called Screen Time (Group Facetime) that lets you know how often you use certain apps on your device and above all Animoji, the iPhone X’s depth-sensing, front-facing camera that helps you capture your facial movements and uses them to animate one of the popular emoji on iOS (Memoji).
What is Memoji?
Memoji are animated humans instead of animated emojis. With this feature, you can create a character that resembles you or you can even decide to put up something that resembles your favorite celebrity or idol. This feature embedded on the iOS 12 never limits you to creating only your facial features as it gives you all the tools you need to create your own avatar unlike what can be noted on the Samsung Galaxy later models.
How to create and customize Memoji
Follow the steps below to create your memoji on iOS 12. To begin with;Step 1: Open the Messages app on your iPhone X
Step 2: Tap on an existing message or you can compose a new one.
Step 3: Select the Animoji icon (denoted by a monkey) in the app tray beneath the text composition box.
Step 4: Expand the Animoji selection by swiping up and tap the plus (+) sign to create a Memoji.
Step 5: Start building your avatar by choosing a skin color. A slider tool lets you adjust the warmth or coolness of your skin tone. You can even choose a wild color, such as pink or purple, to represent you. The skin tone feature also gives you four freckle patterns to choose from.
Step 6: Then choose a hair color and style. The color options cover all the natural shades. The hair styles range from straight and curly hair to twists, braids and even nearly-bald heads.
Step 7: Swipe over to head shape to choose how pointy or round your chin is and how aged your want your avatar to look.
Step 8: Next up is eyes.Choose a color and adjust the shade with the slider tool. Pick an eye shape and how dramatic you want your Memoji’s eyelashes to look.
Step 9: Pick a brow shape.
Step 10: Toggle over to pick the shape of your nose and lips. Add some color if you’re a lipstick person.
Step 11: The Ears section lets you pick ear size and add colorful earrings or small silver hoops.
Step 12: You can add sideburns and facial hair if you have them.
Step 13: Design a pair of glasses in the Eyewear section. You can choose the shape and color of the frames and make the lenses tinted or clear depending on what you prefer.
Step 14: The last option is Headwear, where you can add a jaunty pageboy cap, hijab or 22 other options.
Step 15: Tap Done.
Step 16: Now the Memoji has been added to your Animoji App. When you smile, it smiles. When you stick your tongue out, it sticks its tongue out. It’s kind of amazing. A little animated version of you and it will stay alongside popular options such as the unicorn and poop on the Animoji App on your iOS 12 device. You can create as many Memoji as per desire.
Note that Memoji is only available to make if you have the TrueDepth camera system. That means your older iPhone won’t make it. However, you’ll be able to receive Memoji in the form of a video, but you won’t be able to make your own. The iPhones that can make Memoji are the iPhone X, XS, XS Max, and XR.
Among other noted features of Memoji is that you can even take a photo with your Memoji overlayed on your IRL face. All you need do is to click the camera button in any iMessage, click the star icon in the bottom left corner, hit the Animoji icon, and choose your Memoji!
Share this piece of information to friends if you find it useful. Cheers!
