“Currently users can only share PDFs in document sharing”
It looks like document sharing is finally available on WhatsApp. The company has rolled out the feature to both its Android and iOS apps. The document sharing option appears in the sharing menu alongside the other options.
Currently, only PDFs are supported in document sharing, and we don't know when Word documents and other formats will become available. It's worth noting that this feature is being rolled out to users in phases, so it might take a while to reach your device.
Additionally, WhatsApp has rolled out a separate update for its iOS app. The new version allows users to share images, videos and documents from third-party apps installed on the user's iPhone like Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive. The new feature shows up as an option at the bottom when you tap on Photo/Video library from the sharing menu. The update also lets users zoom in on a video while it is playing, pick from a variety of solid colours for chat backgrounds, and brings an improved design for browsing videos and pictures. The update for iOS is around 55MB in size, and is being rolled out over the air. The same update for Android users is around 11MB in size, and is available from the Play Store.
