[MWC 2016]: Lenovo unveils the VIBE K5 and K5 Plus, budget smartphones with 4G LTE

As per earlier reports, Lenovo was expected to launch the China-specific Lemon 3 at this year’s MWC for global markets. Instead, the brand has introduced two new smartphones under its highly popular K series – the VIBE K5 and VIBE K5 Plus. Both new Lenovo smartphones offer premium metal unibody designs, and come with Dolby ATMOS-powered speakers for an immersive media experience, just like the Lemon 3.



The Lenovo VIBE K5 and VIBE K5 Plus share quite a few specifications. They offer 5-inch displays, and run Android 5.1 Lollipop. The phones come with 2GB of RAM, Adreno 405 GPUs, 16GB of expandable storage, dual-SIM slots with 4G LTE support, and 2,750mAh batteries. For imaging, they sport 13-megapixel primary snappers and 5MP secondary shooters.



Individually, the Lenovo VIBE K5 features an HD LCD screen, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 processor. The VIBE K5 Plus on the other hand sports a full HD LCD display panel, and is powered by a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC. Both smartphones offer dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.1 and micro-USB 2.0 connectivity options.

The Lenovo VIBE K5 and K5 Plus, both come pre-loaded with several apps such as SHAREit, SNAPit, and Guvera Music among others. The VIBE K5 will be available for around Rs 8,850, while the K5 Plus will go on sale for around Rs 10,250. They will be available in Platinum Silver and Champagne Gold hues.
